{"id":3867,"date":"2009-06-16T17:04:34","date_gmt":"2009-06-16T17:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2009\/06\/16\/family-tribute-to-murdered-luton-shopkeeper\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:36:31","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:36:31","slug":"family-tribute-to-murdered-luton-shopkeeper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2009\/06\/16\/family-tribute-to-murdered-luton-shopkeeper\/","title":{"rendered":"Family tribute to murdered Luton shopkeeper"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Jashbhai Patel knifed to death in bunged robbery<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"277\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"180\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/JashbhaiPatel_180x232.jpg\"\/>A LUTON shopkeeper who was stabbed to death in a bungled robbery was \u201cashamed\u201d of how much the city he loved had changed.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Jashbhai Patel, 59, died at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital on Sunday night just hours after he was stabbed to death at the newsagents he ran with his family. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>In an emotional tribute, his family said their father had become \u201cashamed\u201d at how much the city had changed over the years. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mr Patel, who had served his community for over 25 years, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning at the Moon\u2019s newsagents in Park Street.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A post mortem confirmed he died of multiple stab wounds.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>In a statement released by Bedfordshire Police, Mr Patel\u2019s wife, son and daughter described him as a \u201ccaring, loving and friendly person\u201d. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cOur shop was the highlight for all of the customers in the morning, a place where everyone stopped to have a chat with dad and his good friend Alan,\u201d the statement said.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cDad loved his family without boundary and will be sorely missed now and will always be in our hearts. He was one in a million for his grandkids and it&#8217;s hard to express in words what he meant to them and how they will miss him.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>They added he was a \u201cgreat believer in helping others\u201d and \u201chad a heart of gold and would give anything to anyone\u201d.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>But they said their father had recently become disillusioned with the state of Luton. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI know that Dad had been ashamed of what Luton was and finally has become and how times have changed.
