{"id":3729,"date":"2009-03-16T16:29:05","date_gmt":"2009-03-16T16:29:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2009\/03\/16\/text-peer-admits-making-mistake\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:33:13","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:33:13","slug":"text-peer-admits-making-mistake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2009\/03\/16\/text-peer-admits-making-mistake\/","title":{"rendered":"Text peer admits making \u2018mistake\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Lord Ahmed tells BBC News \u2018I made a mistake\u2019<\/h3>\n<div><strong>A PEER who was jailed for sending text messages while driving on the motorway has admitted he \u201cmade a mistake\u201d.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Lord Ahmed, 52, was freed by the Court of Appeal last week, 16 days into a 12 week prison sentence. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He was jailed after admitting to sending and receiving a total of five messages while driving on the M1 on Christmas Day 2007. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Speaking to BBC News, Lord Ahmed said he was keen to work with road safety campaigners. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He told BBC News: &#8220;As far as the road safety campaigners are concerned I hope to work with them in future because we should have road safety &#8211; I made a mistake, people make mistakes.&#8221; <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He added drivers sending text messages at the wheel was becoming a common problem. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;There are people&#8230; I mean this is a busy way of life these days but it was wrong.
