{"id":3720,"date":"2009-03-04T15:50:02","date_gmt":"2009-03-04T15:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2009\/03\/04\/asian-marriages-on-hold-as-credit-crunch-bites\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:33:02","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:33:02","slug":"asian-marriages-on-hold-as-credit-crunch-bites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2009\/03\/04\/asian-marriages-on-hold-as-credit-crunch-bites\/","title":{"rendered":"Asian Marriages &#8216;on hold&#8217; as Credit Crunch bites"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Over half polled in survey admit economic downturn has affected wedding plans <\/h3>\n<div><strong>MORE and more Asian weddings are being put \u2018on hold\u2019 due to the credit crunch, a survey has revealed.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Over half of weddings planned by couples who met through online marriage portal SingleMuslim.com have been affected by the Credit Crunch. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>With the average Muslim wedding estimated to cost in excess of \u00a320,000, the matrimonial website recently polled over 1,000 of its members to find out whether the economic downturn was affecting their wedding preparations.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWhilst 25% of respondents admitted that they will have to rein in their expenditure, cutting back on some of the costs associated with a Muslim wedding, 16% said that their plans had changed considerably.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n18% even said that their wedding plans were now &#8216;on hold&#8217; as a direct result of the Credit Crunch.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Adeem Younis, Managing Director of SingleMuslim.com, said: \u201cWe really shouldn\u2019t be surprised at these results.
