{"id":3586,"date":"2009-01-08T13:41:24","date_gmt":"2009-01-08T13:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2009\/01\/08\/husband-jailed-for-murdering-wife\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:29:38","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:29:38","slug":"husband-jailed-for-murdering-wife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2009\/01\/08\/husband-jailed-for-murdering-wife\/","title":{"rendered":"Husband jailed for murdering wife"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Life sentence for Mohammed Rashid<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"210\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"235\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/MohammedRashidSughraRani-232x180.jpg\"\/>A MAN who admitted stabbing his wife to death was jailed for life today.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mohammed Rashid, 35, murdered his wife, Sughra Rani, in a frenzied attack&#8221;, stabbing her 16 times at the couple\u2019s family home in Mold Crescent, Banbury last September. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Rashid admitted killing his wife after walking into Banbury\u2019s police station and confessing to police officers just hours after the attack. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He was sentenced to life today at Oxford Crown Court with a minimum term of 13 years and 10 months. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>At an earlier hearing Banbury Magistrates Court was told Rashid attacked his wife after discovering she was allegedly having an affair. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The couple, who have 2 children, came to Britain 12 years ago following an arranged marriage in Pakistan.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>They lived with Rashid\u2019s parents for a time before moving to Mold Crescent. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Det Ch Insp Colin Seaton, who led the investigation, said: \u201cI would like to take this opportunity to offer my condolences to the family throughout this very difficult time. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u201cThis is a tragic death where an innocent victim had her life taken away when she had so much to live for.
