{"id":3488,"date":"2008-11-05T13:37:51","date_gmt":"2008-11-05T13:37:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/11\/05\/ban-and-fine-for-man-who-starved-dog\/"},"modified":"2008-11-05T13:37:51","modified_gmt":"2008-11-05T13:37:51","slug":"ban-and-fine-for-man-who-starved-dog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/11\/05\/ban-and-fine-for-man-who-starved-dog\/","title":{"rendered":"Ban and fine for man who starved dog"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>10 year ban and \u00a3300 fine for Kasim Khan<\/h3>\n<div><strong>A MAN has been banned from keeping animals for 10 years, fined \u00a3300 and ordered to do 200 hours unpaid community work, for causing unnecessary suffering to a dog.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Kasim Khan, of Gladstone Road, Sparkbrook, Birmingham, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing and was sentenced at Birmingham Magistrates Court, following an investigation by Birmingham City Council.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The investigation was sparked by a complaint from a neighbour. Animal welfare officers found a bull terrier cross \u2013 Bill \u2013 locked in a wire mesh compound in Khan\u2019s garden, with no food or water and urine and faeces covering the floor.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The dog was extremely emaciated and dehydrated and was taken to a vet where it was put on an intravenous drip and treated for infections in both ears and for inflamed paws. The dog has now made a full recovery and been re-homed.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Councillor Neil Eustace, Chair of the Public Protection Committee, said: \u201cThis is a shocking case and I welcome the sentence handed down.
