{"id":3480,"date":"2008-10-20T14:49:52","date_gmt":"2008-10-20T14:49:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/10\/20\/restaurateur-celebrates-20-years-of-fine-dining\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:23:04","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:23:04","slug":"restaurateur-celebrates-20-years-of-fine-dining","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/10\/20\/restaurateur-celebrates-20-years-of-fine-dining\/","title":{"rendered":"Restaurateur celebrates 20 years of fine dining"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Birmingham\u2019s Faiz Choudhury is city\u2019s Balti King!<\/h3>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"227\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"232\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/ThePurpleRooms_232x180.jpg\"\/>ONE of Birmingham\u2019s best loved restaurateur\u2019s is celebrating 20 years at the helm of one of the city\u2019s most popular curry houses.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Faiz Choudhury has turned his restaurant The Purple Rooms into one of Birmingham\u2019s favourite curry houses. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Over the last 20 years the restaurant, famed for serving an exquisite blend of Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine, has notched up an impressive list of accolades including a Good Food Award and winning the Egon Ronay honour a mighty seven times. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cBirmingham was always the star attraction city for Indian food,\u201d Mr Choudhury said.\u00a0\u201cBalti cuisines were established in Birmingham and it will always be the county\u2019s Curry Capital.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI am proud to have given much to the community, only wishing I could give more. \u201cBeing self employed and having The Purple Rooms behind me has helped me get through the years and achieved what I have. Also, having my eldest son; Hesan helping me at The Purple Rooms for the last few years has been a tremendous benefit. \u201cWe all have to work together as friends, family, community and as one nation to achieve gaols.\u201d <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mr Choudhury was awarded a prestigious MBE award by her Majesty the Queen in 1998, for his services towards the community.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He is also a keen humanitarian who has raised hundreds of thousand of pounds for local charities. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>His eldest son Hesan is all praise for his father. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI am very proud of my father and what he has achieved over the years.
