{"id":3413,"date":"2008-09-15T17:13:57","date_gmt":"2008-09-15T17:13:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/09\/15\/uks-first-hindu-school-opens\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:12:23","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:12:23","slug":"uks-first-hindu-school-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/09\/15\/uks-first-hindu-school-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"UK\u2019s first Hindu school opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\"><b>British Hindu\u2019s hail momentous occasion <\/b><\/p>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"218\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"232\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/UKHinduSchool_232x180.jpg\"\/>THE new school term began today for the first 30 pupils of the Krishna-Avanti primary school \u2013 the UK\u2019s first voluntary-aided Hindu school.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Pupils began lessons at a primary school adjacent to the main site where the brand new, state-of-the-art building encompassing a meditation garden and an amphitheatre for outside teaching is being constructed.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The school, in Edgware, will educate children between 5-11 with admission numbers expected to rise to 236 over the next six years. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The school will offer an education based on Hindu values and beliefs but lessons will follow the national curriculum. Pupils will have the opportunity to practise meditation and yoga, with school lunches following a strictly vegetarian diet.
