{"id":3332,"date":"2008-07-16T16:55:40","date_gmt":"2008-07-16T16:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/07\/16\/refuge-group-to-demonstrate-outside-high-court\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:10:06","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:10:06","slug":"refuge-group-to-demonstrate-outside-high-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/07\/16\/refuge-group-to-demonstrate-outside-high-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Refuge group to demonstrate outside High Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\"><b>SBS bring legal challenge against funding cuts<\/b><\/p>\n<div><strong>SUPPORTERS of Southall Black Sisters are set to demonstrate outside the High Court tomorrow as the group take their fight against funding cuts through the legal courts.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The refuge organisation have accused Ealing Council of failing to abide by its duties under the Race Relations Act when it cut the group\u2019s annual funding of \u00a3100,000 earlier this year. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>SBS have been locked in a battle with Ealing Council who have argued there is no need for specialist services for black and minority women pushing instead to streamline services for abused women. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A final decision on whether the funding cut for SBS is to stand has been postponed a number of times by the council. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Tomorrow SBS and Ealing Council will lock horns in the High Court in a case that is expected to last three months. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A spokesperson for SBS said: \u201cThis is no longer simply about the funding of SBS.
