{"id":3322,"date":"2008-06-30T14:57:13","date_gmt":"2008-06-30T14:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/06\/30\/fire-death-treated-as-murder\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:09:53","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:09:53","slug":"fire-death-treated-as-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/06\/30\/fire-death-treated-as-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"Fire death treated as murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\"><b>Blaze was started deliberately, say police<\/b><\/p>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"274\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"180\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/HameedaBegum180x232.jpg\"\/>A\u00a0BLAZE at a Bolton home which claimed the life of an elderly woman was started deliberately, police have revealed.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>71-year-old Hameeda Begum died in hospital just hours after she was rescued from her home on Little Holme Walk, Great Lever a week ago.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A 24-year-old woman and a five-year-old girl remain in critical condition in hospital.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Three firefighters were also injured in the blaze. One of the officers suffered up to 50% burns to his lower back and legs, and serious burns to his hands. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nMrs Begum\u2019s husband, Mumtaz Ahmed Chisty said his wife had &#8220;sacrificed her life to save her children and me&#8221;.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Detectives investigating the fire are treating the death of Mrs Begum as murder after revealing a rubbish bin had been propped up against the front door of the house and deliberately set alight. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Detective Superintendent Sam Haworth from the major incident team said: &#8220;We are treating this fire as arson and therefore the tragic death of Hameeda will be treated as murder.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n&#8220;Two people still remain critically ill as a result of this fire and it is vital that we find out who is responsible for starting this devastating blaze.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n&#8220;I know the community are as committed as we are to finding out who did this, and we still have a dedicated team of detectives working on this case.
