{"id":3310,"date":"2008-08-08T12:33:21","date_gmt":"2008-08-08T12:33:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2008\/08\/08\/lead-level-warning-over-eye-cosmetics\/"},"modified":"2016-01-07T11:09:40","modified_gmt":"2016-01-07T11:09:40","slug":"lead-level-warning-over-eye-cosmetics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2008\/08\/08\/lead-level-warning-over-eye-cosmetics\/","title":{"rendered":"Lead level warning over eye cosmetics"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\"><b>Birmingham shoppers urged to be cautious<\/b><\/p>\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"218\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"232\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/08\/HashmiLead_232x180.jpg\"\/>SHOPPERS in Birmingham are being warned to look out for cosmetics that may illegally contain lead.<\/strong> <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nResponding to a complaint from the public, trading standards officers made a number of test purchases of eye cosmetics including kohl, powder and eye pencils, with some products containing more than 50 per cent lead. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Cosmetics are subject to strict safety regulations which prohibit the use of lead and its compounds in all cosmetics products, except for lead acetate in hair dyes.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>A number of products from an imported Hashmi range were found to have extremely high levels of lead. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Two of its Surmi range \u2013 black coloured kohl worn predominantly by Asian women \u2013 was found to have illegally high levels of lead.
