A vile teenage thug has been jailed, leaving a woman with permanent sight damage after battering her with a hammer outside her gym in a horror carjacking.<\/p>\n

Majid Ali, 17, repeatedly beat Blythe Mason-Boyle across the head before making off in her Audi A1 on Coventry Road, Sheldon.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old victim had just left Energie Fitness when she was targeted by the thug.<\/p>\n

She now struggles to see clearly through one eye and also needed counselling to overcome the trauma of her ordeal.<\/p>\n

Ali, now aged 18, of Mountford Street, Sparkhill was jailed for nine years.<\/p>\n

Police released a shocking image of Miss Mason-Boyle, taken after the attack.<\/p>\n

She said after the sentencing: \u201cThis has been a challenging and frustrating 10 months, but justice has been served.<\/p>\n

“I would like to think this carries the message that under no circumstances is it ever justified to attack any vulnerable person for a materialistic object.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can finally move forward with a life that\u2019s been on hold and bring closure to this chapter.”<\/p>\n

Ali denied robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and wounding but was convicted following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court.<\/p>\n

DC Rebecca Woodcock, from CID, added: “This was a ferocious attack on a defenceless woman whose injuries sadly continue to impact her today.<\/p>\n

“She has suffered both physical and emotional pain as a result of the happened at the hands of Ali.<\/p>\n

“He has refused to take responsibility for what he did but we\u2019ve helped to ensure he has time to reflect on his savage actions off the streets.”<\/p>\n
