{"id":31115,"date":"2020-01-23T16:46:42","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T16:46:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=31115"},"modified":"2020-01-23T17:14:10","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T17:14:10","slug":"a-family-food-business-plans-to-create-150-new-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/23\/a-family-food-business-plans-to-create-150-new-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"A Family Food Business Plans To Create 150 New Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Leicester family business that has been making street food on the go has plans to create 150 new jobs,<\/p>\n<p>Food Attraction, which has the Jake and Nayns\u2019 brand, is investing millions of pounds extending its Leicester premises.<\/p>\n<p>The business, based in Langham Road, Hamilton, has seen growing demand for its naan breads that are filled with a variety of fillings.<\/p>\n<p>The brands are sold in major chains such as Sainsbury\u2019s, Co-op, WHSmith and Londis.<\/p>\n<p>The business makes 50-75,000 items a week, which also includes a range of four ready-to-east burritos and two types of samosa<\/p>\n<p>Managing director Jake Karia said Food Attraction has just done a deal to sell its products in major UK airports and on Virgin Atlantic flights to India.<\/p>\n<p>He said the business \u2013 founded in 1999 \u2013 reported 57 per cent year-on-year growth in 2019, with no signs of slowing.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018 it employed 50 people. That has grown to 105 and the plan is to grow that by 150 over the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>With the backing of HSBC, Mr Karia \u2013 who runs the business with his brother Naynesh \u2013 said they had been able to buy two units next door to their existing 10,000 sq ft premises.<\/p>\n<p>The new sites already have about 10,000 sq ft of ground floor space but the plan is to add a second floor to both.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Karia said: \u201cNaanster is our biggest range, and food-to-go is the fastest growing food market at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe additional manufacturing space will help us increase production capabilities and allow us to meet the rising demand for our products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve bought quite a good sized plot which includes the whole courtyard that we are already based in, the two units and a car park.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we will start the building work by August, which should take four to five months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan is to start recruiting in September or October.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to be a darling of Leicester. There is so much to offer here and when you think of some of the other big brands based around the city, like Walkers and Pukka Pies,\u00a0you want to continue that trend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re extremely proud of the fact that we\u2019ve managed to retain the family feel of the business at the same time as experiencing huge growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Karia said they were initially inspired to start the business by their mother\u2019s aromatic cooking.<\/p>\n<p>He said they have held back on expansion because of the uncertainty over Brexit but now felt confident \u201cregardless of who is in power\u201d to go ahead with the plans.<\/p>\n<p>David Tomlinson, area director at HSBC UK East Midlands business banking, said: \u201cThe UK\u2019s food-to-go sector is rapidly growing, so it is a great time for Food Attraction and the Jake &amp; Nayns\u2019 brand to expand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new premises will provide plenty of room to fulfil their growth ambitions, with the aim of investing in the local community through the creation of up to 150 jobs<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe company has great plans for the future, and we wish them the very best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Leicester family business that has been making street food on the go has plans to create 150 new jobs, Food Attraction, which has the Jake and Nayns\u2019 brand, is investing millions of pounds extending its Leicester premises.
