A woman was assaulted and dragged by a car in a Tesco car park on Saturday 18 January in Hodge Hill.<\/p>\n
Police are investigating an alleged racially aggravated attack.<\/p>\n
Members of the public gathered around a person who was lying on the ground and a Tesco employee directed passing traffic away from the scene.<\/p>\n
A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: \u201cPolice are investigating reports of a racially aggravated assault against a woman on a supermarket car-park on Coleshill Road, Hodge Hill, at 12pm on Saturday January 18<\/p>\n
\u201cA woman suffered minor injuries after being dragged along by a car following an argument.\u201d<\/p>\n
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: \u201cWe received several 999 calls around 12.15pm from Tesco on Coleshill Road, Hodge Hill.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne ambulance and a paramedic officer attended. We treated one woman who was given treatment on the scene before being taken to hospital for further checks.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer injuries are not believed to be serious.\u201d<\/p>\n
Local Councillor Majid Mahmood (Lab Hodge Hill, Bromford) appealed to anyone with information to come forward following the \u201cthuggish\u201d attack.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cThis is disgusting behaviour and has no place in our diverse and peaceful area.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that the police catch the culprits and bring them to swift justice.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a community we will not tolerate any form of discrimination and will stand together to fight against it.<\/p>\n
Coun Mahmood added: \u201cI pray that the victim makes a quick recovery and we will work with our partners to prevent this type of thuggish behaviour.\u201d<\/p>\n
