{"id":30002,"date":"2019-08-26T17:21:05","date_gmt":"2019-08-26T16:21:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=30002"},"modified":"2019-08-26T17:31:59","modified_gmt":"2019-08-26T16:31:59","slug":"dad-of-sparkhill-stabbing-was-backbone-of-the-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2019\/08\/26\/dad-of-sparkhill-stabbing-was-backbone-of-the-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Dad of Sparkhill Stabbing Was Backbone of the Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man was brutally stabbed to death on Friday 23 August and left four other injured has left devastated relatives who described him &#8216;the backbone of our family&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Hashim Khan, who was a dad, died after a serious incident in\u00a0Witton Road, Sparkhill.<\/p>\n<p>The 37-year-old has been described by his grieving relatives as &#8220;a wonderful loving husband, father, brother and friend&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Khan was discovered with serious injuries just after 10.40pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released through West Midlands Police on Sunday his family said: \u201cHashim was a wonderful loving husband, father, brother and friend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He touched the lives of many who knew him. He was the backbone in our family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are out of our minds with grief, we are shattered, broken and can barely speak to anyone. We thank everyone for their kind words and condolences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this moment in time we would like as a family to be left alone to come to terms with our loss and grieve in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officers were called to reports of disorder, involving men who are understood to be known to each other, at an address on Wilton Road.<\/p>\n<p>A 35-year-old man \u00a0was found in the property with stab wounds remains in a serious condition in hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Three other men, two in their 30s and one in their 40s, suffered injuries which were not serious.<\/p>\n<p>A 32-year-old man who was detained on suspicion of murder is currently being treated in hospital for hand injuries and will be questioned in due course.<\/p>\n<p>One man, in his 30s, who went to the man as he lay dying. He said:\u201dIt\u2019s crazy. I was on ladypool road and I got a phone call from home saying there\u2019s been some sort of disturbance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the time I got here, there was already a couple of people holding the lad, pressing down on his wounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was horrible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou wouldn\u2019t expect it to happen on the road and the way it happened &#8211; it was like a movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Detectives continue to investigate and anyone with information can contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk, call 101 any time, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
