{"id":29979,"date":"2019-08-22T10:12:15","date_gmt":"2019-08-22T09:12:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=29979"},"modified":"2019-08-22T10:19:28","modified_gmt":"2019-08-22T09:19:28","slug":"gcse-result-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2019\/08\/22\/gcse-result-day\/","title":{"rendered":"GCSE Result Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Thousands of students will be waking\u00a0 up to find out their GCSE results today and while many are likely to be cheerful of achieving the grades they wanted, others will likely be tearful having not reached the grades they wanted.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Students who did not attain the grades needed for your next step, it is best to sit down with your teachers to discuss your options.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">They will have plenty of experience with students in your situation and will likely be able to allay some of your fears and disappointment with proactive advice and support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Your teachers should be able to advise you on what your options are given your desired path.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It is also the second year in a row that the traditional A*-C have been scrapped and replaced with a 9-1 system, while 25 subjects are set to be awarded new grades for the first time<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you fail an exam, by not attaining a grade 4 or above, it is possible to resit it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A resit in Maths and English will be required to proceed to A-level if the pass mark has not been met.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Resits for these exams take place in November, but retakes for all other subjects will occur next summer<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">Other options<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you did not reach your required GCSE grades, you might decide to pursue other qualifications instead of A levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This could include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s4\">BTECs:- Vocational qualifications which give students the skills they need to enter higher education or employment, obtained through practical, work-related activities, allowing the students to apply what they have learned.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s4\">City and Guilds: Vocational and technical qualifications and apprenticeships, which help students develop their skills for career progression.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s4\">Apprenticeships: Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study to achieve a qualification, meaning you work alongside experienced staff in a real working environment, and will be paid during your apprenticeshi<\/span><span class=\"s1\">p.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Good Luck on Result Day!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thousands of students will be waking\u00a0 up to find out their GCSE results today and while many are likely to be cheerful of achieving the grades they wanted, others will likely be tearful having not reached the grades they wanted.
