{"id":29119,"date":"2019-05-08T11:15:58","date_gmt":"2019-05-08T10:15:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=29119"},"modified":"2019-05-08T11:18:31","modified_gmt":"2019-05-08T10:18:31","slug":"taxi-driver-continue-go-slow-protest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2019\/05\/08\/taxi-driver-continue-go-slow-protest\/","title":{"rendered":"Taxi Drivers Continue Go-Slow Protest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taxi drivers will continue go-slow protest after the council said it would not attend talks to solve the dispute over clear air zone charges.<\/p>\n<p>They claim they were &#8216;steamrolled&#8217; over the plans to impose a Clean Air Zone on the city in 2020 and that it would plunge them into &#8216;greater financial hardship.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Taxi drivers have been staging go-slow protest in the city centre during rush hour for the past two weeks,\u00a0causing major delays for other drivers on the roads.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Barbara Dring, chair of the licensing committee, said the council had &#8216;done the best we can&#8217; for the drivers.<\/p>\n<p>Taxi drivers will be staging go-slow protests \u00a0every day in the city centre on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wednesday 8th May 2019 &#8211; 15.00 &#8211; 18.00<\/li>\n<li>Thursday 9th May 2019 &#8211; 15.00 &#8211; 18.00<\/li>\n<li>Friday 10th May 2019 &#8211; 15.00 &#8211; 18.00<\/li>\n<li>Monday 13th May 2019 &#8211; 15.00 &#8211; 18.00<\/li>\n<li>Tuesday 14th May 2019 &#8211; 15.00 &#8211; 18.00<\/li>\n<li>Wednesday 15th May 2019 &#8211; 15.00 &#8211; 18.00<\/li>\n<li>Thursday 16th May 2019 &#8211; 15.00 &#8211; 18.00<\/li>\n<li>Friday 17th May 2019 &#8211; 15.00 -18.00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Taxi drivers will continue go-slow protest after the council said it would not attend talks to solve the dispute over clear air zone charges.
