{"id":2816,"date":"2007-10-11T15:54:29","date_gmt":"2007-10-11T15:54:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/10\/11\/event-boost-for-midland-charity\/"},"modified":"2016-01-06T17:21:55","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T17:21:55","slug":"event-boost-for-midland-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2007\/10\/11\/event-boost-for-midland-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"Event boost for Midland charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"210\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"232\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/SandwellAsianBritishHafta.jpg\"\/>A MIDLAND charity is in joyous mood this month after being chosen to take part in a special week long celebration into the achievements of the British Asian community.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Smethwick-based Sandwell Asian Family Support Service (SAFSS) has been chosen by organisers of the \u2018British Asian Hafta\u2019 which will celebrate the contributions made by British Asian\u2019s in a week long event at the end of October. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>SAFSS, which supports South Asian children, young people and young adults with disabilities, has been recognised for its work on numerous occasions.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Chief Executive Parpinder K Dhatt described the group\u2019s involvement with British Asian Hafta as a \u201cprivilege\u201d. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cAs the chosen charity for British Asian Hafta Sandwell Asian Family Support Service will highlight the achievements and contributions made by British Asians with disabilities\u201d, she said. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u201dSAFSS is the only charity exclusively working with and representing Asian children, young people and adults with disabilities in the West Midlands and by being part of the Hafta, all members of the community are involved.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u201dIt is a privilege for us to be chosen as the named charity and an excellent platform for SAFSS to highlight the needs of South Asian children and young people with disabilities. We thank the organisers for choosing SAFSS.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The recognition by British Asian Hafta follows a very successful six months for the charity.
