WEST Midlands Fire Service is urging Midland Muslims to be safe as they gear up for Eid festivities this weekend.<\/strong> <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Thousands of Muslims across the region will celebrate the festival of Eid, which will mark the end of Ramadhan. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

With the festival due to take place on Saturday, the fire service have said many people are likely to become distracted on the busy day. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

As a result they have issued the following guidelines to help Muslims enjoy the day. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

* Never leave cooking unattended<\/em> <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

* When deep-frying, dry the food before putting it in the pan. Never fill the pan more than one-third full of oil. If the oil starts to smoke, turn off the heat and leave it to cool. Never throw water over the pan. <\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

* When cooking, take great care with long hair and clothing as both are very flammable. <\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

* Ensure a working smoke alarm is fitted on each floor of your home. <\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

* Make sure all cigarettes and candles are put out properly. <\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

* Don\u2019t place candles near decorations or furnishing that could catch alight. <\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

* Turn off any unplug electrical appliances when not in use and do not overload electrical sockets. <\/em><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Eid marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. For Muslims it is a joyous occasion with important religious significance, celebrating the achievement of enhanced piety. It is a day of forgiveness, moral victory, peace of congregation, fellowship, brotherhood and unity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
