A new development is set to make\nway for apartments after a series of run-down industrial buildings in the\nJewellery Quarter are to be partially demolished. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project at 27-33 Great Hampton\nStreet will be created to 136 new apartments and 6,025 sq ft of ground floor\ncommercial space and be called The Lamp Works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For developer Blackswan,\u00a0this will be its third project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Lamp Works will see a series\nof buildings bounded by Great Hampton Street and Barr Street either demolished\nor regenerated to create 53 one-bedroom, 66 two-bedroom and 17 three-bedrooms\napartments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There will also be 20 parking\nspaces and a secure cycle area, with all flats available to rent only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Richard Whitehouse, development\ndirector with Blackswan, said: “As part of the development, we will be\nretaining the skeleton of one of the buildings which will ensure a sense of\nhistory is retained through its form and decayed materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This will be coupled with\nthe salvaging and retention of the remaining original fire doors which will be\nincorporated and add to our aspiration to re-purpose and re-use found objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
