Following\nnumerous complaints from residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sparkbrook Police tweeted: &#8220;DVLA came to Sparkbrook and\nBalsall heath today Tuesday 8th January they had a very busy time over twenty\nvehicles removed your car needs to be taxed to be on a public road. This\noperation was by public request.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were 132 untaxed vehicles clamped or impounded in\u00a0Sandwell<a href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/sandwell\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>council area, a slight decrease compared to 2016 when there were 166.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Dudley council area there were just 11 vehicles clamped, a\nhuge decrease compared to the previous year when 106 untaxed vehicles were\nclamped or impounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\nspokesperson of the Automobile Association said: &#8220;Nowadays, thanks to new\ntechnology, drivers stand a much greater chance of being caught with an untaxed\nvehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Police\nforces and other law enforcement agencies use Automatic Number Plate\nRecognition (ANPR) cameras that can detect illegal vehicles by reading their\nnumber plates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Hence, drivers are playing with fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;However,\nwe also know that some people can&#8217;t afford to pay for everything that keeps\ntheir car on the road legally.
