These prominent individuals have delivered services in\nareas of sport, arts, business and technology and will be honoured with a\nBritish Empire medal and title in the coming months. Looking at the prominent\nBritish Asian men and women who have also been featured.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nofficial publication of the New Year Honours List for 2019 was released to\ncommemorate the contributions made by British Asians to the UK and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Titles bestowed upon the Asian individuals include Commanders of\nthe Order of the British Empire (CBE), Member of the Order of the British\nEmpire (MBE), Officers of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), and Medallist\nof the Order of the British Empire (BEM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the total of 1,148 people given honours on the List, 12% are\nfrom BAME backgrounds (approximately over 135 people). Seeing an increase\ncompared to 2018, which was 9.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the total, 47% of them were women this year, which is 544.\nSeeing slightly less than 2018, which was 49%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some\nnoteworthy Asian personalities appeared on the New Year Honours List for 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saeed Atcha, aged 22, who is the founder of Xplode Magazine, a\ncharity helping young people in Greater Manchester through volunteering, jobs\nand skills training, became the youngest person to be awarded an MBE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reacting to the award, Saeed said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI never expected this at all, especially at my age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\nachievements of young people should be recognised like this,\nthe&nbsp;work&nbsp;so many young people do should be recognised, I would\nencourage the community to recognise them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paramdeep Singh Bhatia was awarded an MBE for his services to\nthe community. Reacting to his honour, Param said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m ever so humbled to have been made an MBE by Her Majesty the\nQueen for services to charity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Birmingham\u2019s British Asian woman entrepreneur Rosie Kaur Ginday,\nCEO of Miss Macaroon CIC, was given an MBE for her community services to help\nthe unemployed, and&nbsp;British Asian musician, Nitin Sawhney, was awarded a\nCBE for his services to music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nitin in the past, turned down an OBE, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI turned down an OBE years ago and my dad passed away\nregretting that I didn\u2019t take it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis time the offer letter came on my dad\u2019s birthday so I took\nit for dad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>British Asians who have been recognised in the New Year\u2019s\nHonours List 2019 include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Commanders\nof the Order of the British Empire (CBE)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>Gurinder Singh JOSAN \u2013<\/em>&nbsp;Labour Party member.
