One mum tells us what a difference Acorn’s can make for families in need and is encouraging people to sign up for the Santa Run on Saturday 8 December. <\/span><\/p>\n

Najma Sajid\u2019s daughter Tanisha was born with an extremely rare, life limiting genetic condition, called micro syndrome, which means she needs 24-hour, one to one care.<\/span><\/p>\n

Najma and her husband Sajid recognised their daughter’s condition instantly – as their son Arbaaz had it and died aged five.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cChildren born with micro syndrome are blind, deaf and they can\u2019t do anything for themselves,” said Najma.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Tanisha is wheelchair bound, she can\u2019t move and she can\u2019t walk so we do everything.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It\u2019s 24\/7 and as she\u2019s getting bigger it\u2019s getting more demanding.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tanisha is 11 now and Acorns Children\u2019s Hospice offers them a lifeline as it provides vital respite time for them to spend with their older daughters Laiba, aged 17, and Aroush, 13.<\/span><\/p>\n

Najma is calling on people to sign up for this year’s Santa Run in aid of the hospice.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will take place on Saturday 8 December\u00a0at Aston University.<\/span><\/p>\n

Najma said: \u201cPlease support Acorns and sign up for the\u00a0<\/span>Santa<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Run. Acorns helps so many\u00a0<\/span>families<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and mine is one of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>“Every penny counts \u2013 all the money raised goes to helping run Acorns and makes a massive difference to people\u2019s lives, including mine.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Without\u00a0<\/span>Acorns<\/a><\/span>\u00a0we\u2019d be lost.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201cWe\u2019ve been told Tanisha\u2019s life expectancy will be around 13 but we don\u2019t know.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We take every day as it comes. We take the view that tomorrow is never promised, but we look forward to tomorrow and enjoy making fantastic memories.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cAcorns came at exactly the right time for us,\u201d Najma added.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey helped my daughters flourish and really come out of their shell.<\/span><\/p>\n

“They gave me the time to spend with just Laiba and Aroush and my husband. Hand on heart if it wasn\u2019t for Acorns, I wouldn\u2019t get that chance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
