{"id":2764,"date":"2007-10-05T15:57:58","date_gmt":"2007-10-05T15:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/10\/05\/why-i-self-harm\/"},"modified":"2016-01-06T17:15:40","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T17:15:40","slug":"why-i-self-harm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2007\/10\/05\/why-i-self-harm\/","title":{"rendered":"Why I Self-Harm"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"276\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"180\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/SatveerSelfharm.jpg\"\/>A MIDLAND mother will lift the lid on the growing problem of self-abuse that is gripping young Asian women later this month in a BBC Asian Network documentary.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>25-year-old Satveer will speak openly about her experiences of self-harming as part of the &#8216;I Will Survive&#8217; documentary for the BBC Asian Network this month. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The programme will discuss worrying statistics showing how Asian woman aged between 18 and 24 are three times more likely than a young white woman to turn up at hospital after self-harm. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The edition of the Asian Network Report, which is broadcast on 22 October, t traces the highs and lows in the emotional lives of some of the young British Asians behind these statistics.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The programme will highlight the dramatic problem of self harm amongst Asian women in the UK, and will hear from Satveer who has spent most of her adult life self-harming. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Speaking to The Asian Today, the Wolverhampton mother-of-one said she was desperate to be part of the programme to highlight the problem within the Asian community.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cDo I think self-harming is an ignored area in the Asian community?
