With ‘Curry King of Birmingham’ less than three weeks away, LoveBrum is eager to spice up the city and crown the new King/Queen of curry.

Curry King of Birmingham is returning to the ICC, Birmingham on Friday 9 November for the third year running, with hundreds of guests set to create their very own curry whilst enjoying a delicious dinner prepared by the experts. Featuring some of the city’s top chefs and foodies, including Alex Claridge (The Wilderness and Nocturnal Animals) and Aktar Islam (Opheem), the search is on for the best Brummie curry.

As we celebrate National Curry Week (22-28 October), businesses across the city are preparing for the popular cook off and dining experience with hope to claim this year’s crown. The annual event aims to raise £30,000 for LoveBrum by bringing together hundreds of the city’s professionals for an evening full of food, fun and fundraising.

Speaking about the event, LoveBrum’s executive director, Paul Mitchell, comments:

“Curry King of Birmingham is a great chance to celebrate the famous Brummie cuisine but, more importantly, to celebrate the work of LoveBrum and the projects we fund.

“On the night, each table creates their own curry, which is then cooked live on stage and presented to the all-star judging panel. The fun doesn’t end there, the curry king or queen is then crowned, whilst guests enjoy a three-course banquet and live entertainment throughout the evening. We’ve already got some great supporters on board, but I urge the city to get behind this fundraiser because not only is it a great night out, but every single penny raised will go to help hidden gem projects across the city.”

The money raised from Curry King of Birmingham will go into LoveBrum’s funding pot, which has so far given £100,000 to local causes. Each month, three projects are showcased and at the end of the month a vote takes place, with £2,000, £1,000 and £500 being donated to each cause depending on their popularity.

Curry King of Birmingham sees SimkissGuy Recruitment and East End Foods return as headline sponsors, and Harvey Nichols Birmingham as drinks sponsor. Tickets are still on sale, starting at £80 + VAT per ticket.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to be crowned curry king or queen, and you want to raise money for LoveBrum, book your tickets now ticketlist.co.uk/curryking.

As the ‘curry capital’ celebrates National Curry Week, Birmingham charity LoveBrum is busy gearing up for this year’s hottest annual fundraiser.
