{"id":27399,"date":"2018-10-03T13:08:22","date_gmt":"2018-10-03T12:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=27399"},"modified":"2018-10-03T13:08:22","modified_gmt":"2018-10-03T12:08:22","slug":"electric-wire-knotted-in-teenagers-bladder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2018\/10\/03\/electric-wire-knotted-in-teenagers-bladder\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric Wire Knotted in Teenagers Bladder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">A teenager, from Uttar Pradesh in India required surgery after an electrical wire was knotted in his bladder. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The unnamed teenage was in pain and struggled to urinate. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Doctors looked at his medical history and found it wasn&#8217;t his first time putting strange objects into his urethra, the case report revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">After conducting X-rays it showed a coiled electric wire in his bladder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Urologists, who were forced to use a laser to break the wire up into smaller pieces to pull out of his urethra, did not reveal how long it was.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">It is thought the wire reached his bladder because of the contractions whenever he tried to urinate, curling it up and pushing it deeper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Urologists, led by Dr Ajay Aggarwal, claimed the boy had no psychiatric illness as an evaluation proved &#8216;unremarkable&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Surgeons first tried to pull the wire back out of his urethra through a cystoscopy &#8211; a procedure to look inside the bladder using a thin camera &#8211; but were unable to because it knotted in his bladder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The team resorted to breaking down the electrical wire by shining a powerful laser at it, attached onto a thin wire pushed down his urethra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The operation proved to be a success and the teenager was discharged 24 hours after the procedure.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A teenager, from Uttar Pradesh in India required surgery after an electrical wire was knotted in his bladder.
