Screams had woken neighbours in a residential Solihull street where a mother and daughter were stabbed to death.\u00a0<\/span>Neighbours have told how they heard noise outside during the early-hours attack and one woman said she saw a man leaving the scene in a van.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

West Midlands Police are directly trying to arrest a male suspect who is believed to have been known to the victims.<\/span><\/p>\n

The women, aged 49 and 22, were pronounced dead at the scene in\u00a0Northdown Road on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield of West Midlands Police appealed to the suspect to come forward.<\/span><\/p>\n

She said: \u201cWe are still in the very early stages of our investigation but we believe the offender is known to the victims.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are appealing to him to come forward as a matter of urgency.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She described the deaths as \u201ctruly devastating and heart-breaking\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

One woman living nearby said:\u00a0 \u201cI thought it was foxes screaming. She (one of the victims) was absolutely screaming her head off. He wasn\u2019t speaking English, that\u2019s for sure. He shouted something and then ran off.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a lot of screaming and shouting and then I saw the guy run off. About a minute later I saw him leave in a van.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The neighbour, who said she was \u201cstunned\u201d by what had happened, said she did not know the victims, adding that \u201cthey kept themselves to themselves\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another\u00a0neighbour said he was woken at around 12.30am by\u00a0screaming but presumed it was just people coming home from a night out.<\/span><\/p>\n

The father-of-two, who also declined to give his name, said: \u201cThen police knocked on my door and asked for some towels, so I knew at that point it was serious.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got a young family so I was worried about what was going on.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Forensics tents were raised on the front lawn of a property which was cordoned off by police tape in the road on Monday morning. Police said house-to-house inquiries are being carried out.<\/span><\/p>\n

CCTV footage is being examined, the force said, adding that there will be a visible police presence in the area in the coming days.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
