{"id":2678,"date":"2007-08-06T14:24:15","date_gmt":"2007-08-06T14:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/08\/06\/stepmother-tortured-tot-to-death\/"},"modified":"2016-01-06T17:13:25","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T17:13:25","slug":"stepmother-tortured-tot-to-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2007\/08\/06\/stepmother-tortured-tot-to-death\/","title":{"rendered":"Stepmother \u2018tortured\u2019 tot to death"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"210\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"232\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/TahlaIkramAbuse.jpg\"\/>A WOMAN who tortured her lover\u2019s little boy to death has been told to expect up to 14 years in jail.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Sumairia Parveen tortured 17-month-old Tahla Ikram so horrifically a doctor who examined the youngster likened his injuries to that of a car accident victim, Southwark Crown Court heard<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Parveen was found guilty alongside her lover Abid Ikram following the five-week trial into the death of Tahla in September 2006. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The youngster was burnt with a cigarette and had his leg repeatedly sliced open until his tendons and veins were exposed.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The duo, both from Ealing, west London, were cleared of murder but convicted of causing or allowing the child\u2019s death. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The court heard young Tahla was taken to hospital six times in the 20 days preceding his death yet doctors failed to spot the abuse. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Tahla had been taken away from Ikram in March 2006 after the couple left him alone in the house while they went out.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He was placed with foster carers but just months later was returned to Ikram. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Parveen, who has left her abusive husband for Ikram, felt Tahla threatened her relationship with his father, the court heard. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>She subjected the tot to a horrendous period of abuse as his father stood by and did nothing. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He suffered a broken thigh and shin and three fractured ribs.
