{"id":2643,"date":"2007-07-18T12:46:52","date_gmt":"2007-07-18T12:46:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/07\/18\/police-investigate-racial-assault\/"},"modified":"2016-01-06T16:56:46","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T16:56:46","slug":"police-investigate-racial-assault","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2007\/07\/18\/police-investigate-racial-assault\/","title":{"rendered":"Police investigate racial assault"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<div><strong>DETECTIVES in Leicester have appealed for witnesses after two Asian men were assualted in a racially motivated attack.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The men, aged 22 and 23, were attacked in Market Place by three men and two women on in the early hours of Friday 13 July.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The Asian men had enjoyed an evening out with other friends when they were subjected to racist abuse by a woman, police said. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The group continued on their journey heading towards the market but were followed by the woman who was joined by a group of people.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The men were then assualted and received minor injuries, police said. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Two women aged 18 and three men aged 18, 19 and 30 were arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Detectives are now urging any witnesses to come forward.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>PC Andrew Cogar who is investigating the assault said: &#8220;I&#8217;m sure there will have been a lot of people in the city centre at this time. The Clock Tower and Market Place are normally fairly busy in the early hours of a Friday morning.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n&#8220;If you were there last Friday and you witnessed this assault I would urge you to contact us.
