{"id":26301,"date":"2018-04-30T22:52:04","date_gmt":"2018-04-30T21:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=26301"},"modified":"2018-04-30T22:52:04","modified_gmt":"2018-04-30T21:52:04","slug":"sadiq-khan-talks-to-asian-today-at-st-georges-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2018\/04\/30\/sadiq-khan-talks-to-asian-today-at-st-georges-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Sadiq Khan talks to Asian Today at St George\u2019s Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"divtagdefaultwrapper\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<blockquote>\n<div id=\"x_divtagdefaultwrapper\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<h6>St George day celebrated across\u00a0London on April 21 and 22, with patriotic party-goers \u00a0turning out in the name of England\u2019s patron saint and Kiran Rai the Presenter and Actor presented at Trafalgar Square and interviewed the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan talked to Asian Today \u00a0and Kiran went backstage and on stage to cover the event infront of 2000 people.<\/h6>\n<h6>The biggest event in the city will see\u00a0<a id=\"LPlnk131673\" href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/topic\/trafalgar-square\">Trafalgar Square<\/a>\u00a0play host to the Mayor of London&#8217;s annual\u00a0<a id=\"LPlnk151092\" href=\"https:\/\/www.london.gov.uk\/events\/2018-04-21\/feast-st-george-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Feast of St George<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday April 21,\u00a0welcoming thousands to take in the atmosphere throughout the day.<\/h6>\n<h6>The square will welcome a huge range of food stalls in celebration of the event\u2019s 13th century origins as a day of feasting, as well as family-friendly workshops and activities.<\/h6>\n<h6 id=\"x_mpu0ArticleBody\" class=\"x_ad-wrapper\">\u00a0There\u2019ll also be live entertainment, with a mixture of contemporary and traditional acts marking the event with a varied music programme.<\/h6>\n<h6 class=\"x_ad-wrapper\">A Victorian music hall will celebrate female artists in recognition of the centenary of women gaining the right to vote, too. The free event takes place between 12pm and 6pm.<\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"x_divtagdefaultwrapper\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<h6>The party won\u2019t just be happening in Trafalgar Square either, with\u00a0<a id=\"LPlnk370462\" href=\"http:\/\/boroughmarket.org.uk\/events\/celebrate-the-feast-of-st-george\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Borough market<\/a>\u00a0launching a multicultural celebration of food and live entertainment between midday and 4pm on Sunday\u00a0April 22.<\/h6>\n<h6 id=\"x_teads-mobile\" class=\"x_ad-wrapper\">\u00a0Expect interactive theatre in the form of performances of St George and the Dragon, as well as hip hop-style maypole dancing and even a Catalan-inspired human tower<\/h6>\n<h6>Elsewhere, step back in time with medieval style celebrations at the St George\u2019s Day festival at\u00a0<a id=\"LPlnk470868\" href=\"http:\/\/vauxhalltrust.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens<\/a>\u00a0on April 21 and 22. It\u2019s a smaller scale celebration than in Trafalgar Square, but the live music programme, traditional Georgian dancing, hog roast, falconry and fantastic period costumes on offer make it top fun for the family.<\/h6>\n<h6 id=\"x_mpu0ArticleBody1\" class=\"x_ad-wrapper\">\u00a0There\u2019s great spectacle too, with knights fighting it out medieval style.
