{"id":26238,"date":"2018-04-25T22:53:40","date_gmt":"2018-04-25T21:53:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=26238"},"modified":"2018-04-25T22:53:40","modified_gmt":"2018-04-25T21:53:40","slug":"schizophrenic-sukhwinder-singh-drives-body-to-police-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2018\/04\/25\/schizophrenic-sukhwinder-singh-drives-body-to-police-station\/","title":{"rendered":"Schizophrenic Sukhwinder Singh drives body to Police Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Paranoid schizophrenic Sukhwinder Singh\u00a0killed his brother-in-law before driving his body to a police station.<\/p>\n<p>He was arrested by officers from West Bromwich Police station after they found the body of 39-year-old Harish Kumar in a BMW.<\/p>\n<p>Singh had driven around with the body in the car for few hours before he stopped at a police station car park last August.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kumar from Willenhall, had suffered a stab wound to the chest.<\/p>\n<p>Singh, 41, of MacDonalds Close, Sandwell, had initially denied murdering Mr Kumar but later admitted manslaughter at\u00a0Wolverhampton Crown Court\u00a0and will be sentenced on June 29.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution accepted that Singh was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia at the time of the killing.<\/p>\n<p>Wearing a red T-shirt, Singh, followed proceedings through a Punjabi interpreter and pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor Nigel Power QC told the judge medical experts had said: \u201cThe defendant\u2019s psychotic beliefs contributed to and explained the killing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Judge Michael Challinor\u00a0told Singh: \u201cFollowing your plea you will be sentenced on June 29 and I am going to direct you are produced in good time that day for sentence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no doubt you will co-operate now you are being medicated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paying tribute to Mr Kumar, his family said he was \u201ca great, yet very humble man\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued through police, a relative said: \u201cHe was always there to help and he will be sadly missed &#8211; I just can\u2019t believe that we\u2019ve lost him.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Paranoid schizophrenic Sukhwinder Singh\u00a0killed his brother-in-law before driving his body to a police station.
