{"id":25937,"date":"2018-03-07T17:00:37","date_gmt":"2018-03-07T17:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=25937"},"modified":"2018-03-07T17:00:37","modified_gmt":"2018-03-07T17:00:37","slug":"birminghams-odara-host-event-empower-local-students-women-international-womens-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2018\/03\/07\/birminghams-odara-host-event-empower-local-students-women-international-womens-day\/","title":{"rendered":"BIRMINGHAM\u2019S ODARA HOST EVENT TO EMPOWER LOCAL STUDENTS AND WOMEN FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN\u2019S DAY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Thursday 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0March 2018<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 ODARA is planning an exciting and insightful programme of events in Birmingham for women of all faiths and backgrounds this International Women\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>The spa and wellbeing centre for women will be hosting an International Women\u2019s Day Conference on 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0March at the South &amp; City College for over 100 of its students.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the conference is \u2018empowerment and inspiration\u2019, and aims to celebrate women as positive role models in society and everyday life.<\/p>\n<p>The day promises to be thought provoking with inspirational talks from the Lord Mayor, Ann Underwood and members of Birmingham City Council.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will include a further talk led by Odara\u2019s CEO Aysha Iqbal who will focus on her personal story, obstacles she has overcome in order to take a leading role in her community, driving her to set up Odara; a centre that offers support and advice to women from the local community.<\/p>\n<p>Aysha Iqbal said:\u00a0<em>\u201cIt is so important to celebrate local women \u2013 wives, mothers, sisters, daughters \u2013 taking on life\u2019s obstacles with strength and confidence.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u201cThrough my work at Odara, I meet so many different women tackling everyday issues who don\u2019t realise how inspiring they are. This International Women\u2019s Day, I want to reinforce the idea that we are all able to achieve what we set our minds to whether it\u2019s running our own businesses, looking after our families and taking control of our lives \u2013 and be the support to ourselves and other women around us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u201cA positive mind set is crucial, and it\u2019s so important to realise that we need to take time out to look after and develop ourselves. It\u2019s only then that we can start to be the difference we want to see in the world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This will be the second year that Odara has hosted the event to inspire and equip local students with the confidence and thinking they need to overcome everyday obstacles.<\/p>\n<p>The event will be followed by an International Women\u2019s Day party in April, celebrating women from different cultures from around the world with a fashion show, food, party games, henna, dancing and inspiring speeches from local spokespeople.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday 8th\u00a0March 2018\u00a0\u2013 ODARA is planning an exciting and insightful programme of events in Birmingham for women of all faiths and backgrounds this International Women\u2019s Day.
