Multi-award winning philanthropist Sajid Rashid BEM is set to \u2018fly like a falcon\u2019 along the world\u2019 longest zip wire, 1680 metres above the ground to raise funds for children\u2019s education in war torn Aleppo.<\/p>\n
The Zipline Challenge will take place on Wednesday\u00a09th<\/sup>\u00a0May 2018.<\/strong>\u00a0 Sajid Rashid will be zip lining on the Jebel Jais zip line, in the mountainous region of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.\u00a0 Certified by The Guinness World Records, the Jebel Jais zip line is 2.8 km long and provides the closest experience to flying like a falcon crossing the skies of the mountains at 1680 metres from the ground, and at speeds reaching up to 150 km per hour.<\/p>\n Sajid Rashid is taking on the challenge to raise funds for Human Appeal, a non-profit charity seeking to provide quality education for children caught up in the Syrian conflict in Aleppo.\u00a0 Funds raised will provide materials to enhance the learning environment at two co-educational schools: Batbu and Dir Hassan enabling over 1,000 boys and girls to be educated in a safe learning space. Education is a major problem in war torn Syria. The International Rescue Committee reports that about 1.75 million children are unable to attend school, and most are up to six years behind in their education.<\/p>\n Sajid Rashid says \u201cEvery year I try to undertake at least one challenge to raise funds for different charities and causes, to help improve or better lives locally and internationally for the under privileged.\u00a0 Putting a smile on these faces is what drives, excels and motivates me to strive further.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTogether we can raise awareness and funds to help these children. Living in the UK, we are fortunate enough to have a roof over our heads and food on the table, however the crisis in war torn Syria means children suffer from necessities we take for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n His challenge is being supported by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism & Development Authority, which is providing exclusive access to the site for the attempt. Sajid will be paying for his own flights and accommodation so that every penny raised to go directly to Human Appeal.<\/p>\n Within the last few years, Sajid has supported numerous charities, communities and causes. This has been achieved through voluntary work and fundraising to strengthen humanity\u2019s fight against poverty, social injustice and natural disaster. He is the youngest Asian ever to receive a British Empire Medal (BEM) from H.M The Queen for services to the community and charitable fundraising.
