Customers of Severn Trent in Edgbaston, Hagley, Moseley and Billesley are receiving a new supply of water after the company opened three new boreholes following 12 months of work.<\/p>\n
Severn Trent, which is the UK\u2019s second biggest water company, said they introduced the new supply to these areas because they continually look for new ways to guarantee that water keeps flowing every day for customers across Birmingham, now and in the future, as demand grows.<\/p>\n
The Drinking Water officials have approved the initiative and customers have been advised that they should not notice any difference to their previous supply.<\/p>\n
Jane Simpson, head of engineering for Severn Trent, explains: \u201cIdentifying and putting new water sources into supply is an exciting and unique event.<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore we made any changes we got special approval from the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) to confirm they are happy with the quality of the water and treatment processes.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo everyone is confident the new water is of the same great quality which people are used to.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new water will be mixed with the current supply in storage tanks, meaning there is only a slight change to the water customers receive and most won\u2019t even notice a change.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever we have let those customers who are getting this new water know in advance to reassure them just in case they had any worries, and 4we\u2019ve set up a special page on our website at stwater.co.uk\/yourwater.\u201d<\/p>\n
