Since becoming a governor, Qasim has brought passion, energy and great enthusiasm to the board.

“He has been instrumental in modernising our approach to communication and the use of social media.

“He has real energy and is helping to raise awareness across the city and within the business community of our Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham.

“I look forward to working very closely with him and am genuinely excited by his appointment which I feel will complement the work he carries out so successfully as vice president of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce here in Birmingham.

“At our 2017 annual Ball we raised a record £140,000 which was partly attributable to Qasim’s strong business and community links.

“His appointment will ensure our continued success as he is a well-known and respected business leader with an outstanding track record.”

Qasim said: “It is an honour to be appointed as vice chair of RMHC Birmingham, after joining the board in only May last year.

“The support our charity offers to families in their hour of need, to provide a ‘home away from home’ is incredible.

“Having a seriously ill child is a very traumatic situation for any family, therefore Ronald McDonald House Charity has been set up to provide a warm environment for loved ones to recoup, during times of adversity and such emotional stress.

“I feel extremely privileged to be in the position of vice chair and more importantly serve the families that need our help on a daily basis.

“Stepping in after our former vice chair Reagen, comes with high expectations.
