{"id":2534,"date":"2007-04-17T13:14:43","date_gmt":"2007-04-17T13:14:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2007\/04\/17\/pharmacist-lends-helping-hand-to-local-community\/"},"modified":"2016-01-06T16:48:24","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T16:48:24","slug":"pharmacist-lends-helping-hand-to-local-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2007\/04\/17\/pharmacist-lends-helping-hand-to-local-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Pharmacist lends helping hand to local community"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"230\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"232\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/Davinder'HealthAdvice'.jpg\"\/>A MIDCOUNTIES Co-operative pharmacist has used his expertise to support his local community by offering free advice on blood pressure.<\/strong> <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nDavinder Singh, a pharmacist at The Co-operative Pharmacy in Raynor Road, Wolverhampton, visited his local Sikh Temple in Willenhall to offer free blood pressure testing and general medication and lifestyle advice. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nOver forty people attended each open session at Guru Nanak Sikh Temple,<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nheld on the first three Monday mornings in March. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Davinder is now hoping this will become a regular initiative which will also include free diabetes testing as well. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nHe said: \u201cOne in three adults in the UK have high blood pressure; the major cause of stroke, heart attack and heart failure. However a third of people don\u2019t even know they have it, so it is vital that people have their blood pressure regularly checked. <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u201cMany of those who attended the free sessions are elderly or find it difficult to get to regular check ups at their doctors, so they were delighted with the health advice service we brought to them. As a Co-operative pharmacy we are part of the local community.
