Three men armed with hammers and a shotgun smashed their way through the locked front door of the shop as staff fled for their lives. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>They grabbed what detectives said was a \u201clarge amount of jewellery\u201d and fled the scene in a blue or purple Renault megane 225 car which was driven at speed along Alfred Road in the direction of Stoney lane.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nUniformed officers arrived on the scene within minutes and cordoned off the shop as crime officers carried out a fingertip search of the premises. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>They wore face masks but are believed to be Asian males. They were all dressed in black. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Attacks on Asian jewellers have risen considerably in the past 12 months. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Earlier this year one man was left with serious facial injuries after a four-man gang lashed out with crowbars at the Gold Centre Jewellers in Alum Rock, while Father-of-two Varinder Sehdeva was stabbed in the chest as raiders targeted his store in Smethwick.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Police are appealing for any witnesses to the robbery yesterday to contact CID at Belgrave Road police station on 0845 113 5000.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>POLICE are hunting three Asian men after a city jeweller\u2019s was targeted in a terrifying raid in broad daylight. &#13; The incident happened at the Gold City store in Sparkbrook yesterday afternoon.
