The Heir to the throne, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has arrested dozens of Saudi royals, ministers and businessmen in an extreme anti-corruption drive.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Saud al-Mojeb in a statement said \u201cthis is merely the start of a vital process to root out corruption wherever it exists\u201d.<\/p>\n
The purge has been seen as a power bolstering exercise of the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.<\/p>\n
The Crown Prince is leading the anti-corruption body has ordered the detention of 11 princes, 4 ministers and dozens of ex-ministers. It has also been reported that the internationally known billionaire businessman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has also been arrested.<\/p>\n
The move has been backed by the US President Donald Trump who tweeted “I have great confidence in King Salman and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, they know exactly what they are doing,”<\/p>\n
