{"id":24650,"date":"2017-10-31T13:09:59","date_gmt":"2017-10-31T13:09:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=24650"},"modified":"2017-10-31T13:09:59","modified_gmt":"2017-10-31T13:09:59","slug":"worlds-first-dent-proof-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2017\/10\/31\/worlds-first-dent-proof-car\/","title":{"rendered":"World\u2019s First Dent-Proof Car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tokyo Motor Show wasn\u2019t dented by a concept car equipped with external airbags that protects the vehicle from being dented in a collision.<\/p>\n<p>The Flesby II ultra-compact vehicle has it\u2019s body panels covered with soft, next generation rubber.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We put airbags, which are mainly employed inside the car, on its exterior, such as its hood or fender, to protect the entire body,&#8221; Takashi Ishikawa, managing officer of Toyoda Gosei, said at the Tokyo Motor Show.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-24651 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3788_Andrew-Wendler-1-626x383-300x184.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"661\" height=\"406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3788_Andrew-Wendler-1-626x383-300x184.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/IMG_3788_Andrew-Wendler-1-626x383-356x220.jpg 356w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 661px) 100vw, 661px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The idea of the concept car was first thought about in 2013 by Toyoda Gosai, a manufacturer of rubber and plastic automative parts and LED\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>LED lights projected onto the rubber also allow the driver to communicate with pedestrians and other vehicles, the company said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the event of contact with a pedestrian, the soft body serves a safety function in absorbing the impact,&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n<p>The company hopes to introduce Flesby II by 2030.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tokyo Motor Show wasn\u2019t dented by a concept car equipped with external airbags that protects the vehicle from being dented in a collision.
