{"id":24271,"date":"2017-10-04T11:12:33","date_gmt":"2017-10-04T10:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=24271"},"modified":"2017-10-04T11:12:33","modified_gmt":"2017-10-04T10:12:33","slug":"giant-bra-adorns-indian-sculpture-mark-breast-cancer-awareness-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2017\/10\/04\/giant-bra-adorns-indian-sculpture-mark-breast-cancer-awareness-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Giant Bra Adorns Indian Sculpture To Mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>A fashion student at Birmingham City University (UK) has designed a huge bra for Birmingham\u2019s \u2018Floozie in the Jacuzzi\u2019 to wear this month, as part of a campaign raising awareness of breast cancer.<\/h2>\n<p>The Floozie in the Jacuzzi\u2019s official name is \u2018The River\u2019 and is part of a set of sculptures in Birmingham\u2019s Victoria Square created by Indian sculptor, <a href=\"http:\/\/dhruvamistry.com\/\">Dhruva Mistry<\/a>, from Kanjari, Gujarat.<\/p>\n<p>Working in conjunction with West Midlands-based charity, Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, student Zoe Lockett hopes her giant bra will stop passers-by.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to create something that was really feminine but also attracted a lot of attention,\u201d said Zoe, from Heath Hayes in Cannock.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-24273\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker-696x392.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker-747x420.jpg 747w, https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Scuplture-giant-bra-maker.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u201cI\u2019ve added lots of flowers to the bra and it even has lights too. Hopefully it\u2019s quite a head-turner!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer was established in 2000 and has helped to raise over \u00a31 million for Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital\u2019s cancer unit.<\/p>\n<p>The charity hosts fundraising activities throughout the year, with all of the money staying within the West Midlands and helping breast cancer patients within a 70-mile radius of the QE hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Veronica Kumeta, co-founder of Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLadies Fighting Breast Cancer are very grateful to Zoe for all her hard work in designing and making the bra on behalf of our charity as we kick start Breast Cancer Awareness Month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very passionate about raising awareness of this disease as early detection saves lives and the bra is certainly going to help us raise awareness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe bought the first pink mobile mammogram unit in the country, based in Selly Oak, as we are always looking for ways to promote awareness of this terrible disease in our diverse community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zoe\u2019s bra will be seen on the Floozie in the Jacuzzi throughout <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breastcancercare.org.uk\/awareness-month\">Breast Cancer Awareness Month<\/a>, which runs from 1 \u2013 31 October.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A fashion student at Birmingham City University (UK) has designed a huge bra for Birmingham\u2019s \u2018Floozie in the Jacuzzi\u2019 to wear this month, as part of a campaign raising awareness of breast cancer.
