Langley ward Councillor Kuldip Singh Sahota has been made a Governor at the University of Wolverhampton.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The 55-year-old joins Wolverhampton karate expert Josh Johnson and Dudley College Principal Jeanne Harding as one of three new Governors at the University. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Cllr Sahota, who is married with two grown-up sons, has lived in Telford for over 40 years, working at engineering firm GKN Sankey for 15 years before going into business running a car park franchise. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He said: \u201cI am pleased to be appointed and am looking forward to helping with the running of the University and its accountability to the public.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cI have a wide range of experience in business and local government and I feel I have a lot to contribute as a Governor.\u201d<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Before being elected a Borough Councillor in 2001 and a Parish Councillor for Great Dawley Parish Council, he served on Ketley Parish Council for three years.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>At Telford and Wrekin Council he is Chair of the Community and Resources Scrutiny Commission, and sits on the Plans Board and on the Fostering Panel.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>On The Great Dawley Parish Council he is Chair of the Entertainment Committee, and a Member of the Policy and Finance Committee.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>In the wider community, he is Chair of Governors of Malinslee Primary School, and a member of the Telford Cultural and Leisure Centre committee.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Chair of Governors John Sharples said: \u201cWe are delighted Kuldip, Josh and Jeanne have joined the Board of Governors. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cBeing a Governor is a chance to give something back to the community and influence the regeneration of the region. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u201cTheir skills will be very important in helping to plan the University\u2019s future.\u201d <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>To find out more about becoming a Governor please visit: <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wlv.ac.uk\/governors\">www.wlv.ac.uk\/governors<\/a> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TELFORD&#8217;S\u00a0Malinslee &amp;
