{"id":2309,"date":"2006-09-19T17:27:53","date_gmt":"2006-09-19T17:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2006\/09\/19\/arson-death-linked-to-relationship\/"},"modified":"2016-01-06T16:37:18","modified_gmt":"2016-01-06T16:37:18","slug":"arson-death-linked-to-relationship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2006\/09\/19\/arson-death-linked-to-relationship\/","title":{"rendered":"Arson death linked to relationship"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<div><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"174\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"232\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"1\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/alishabegumweb1.jpg\"\/>A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl who was killed after an arson attack on her home was the innocent victim of an attempt to scare her brother into ending his relationship with a girl, a court has heard.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Alisha Begum, <em>(pictured right)<\/em> died in March this year after her family home in Aston, Birmingham was firebombed. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>She was the only victim of the fire after her mother and brothers and sisters escaped the blaze after breaking a window to escape. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Hussain Ahmed, 26, of Harborne, and Daryll Tuzzio, 18, from Perry Barr deny murder and the attempted murder of nine of Alisha&#8217;s relatives.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The court was told Alisha\u2019s older brother Abdul Hamid, 21, had started a relationship with Mr Ahmed\u2019s 15-year-old sister Meherun Khanum.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>But the girls family disapproved of the relationship.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The arson attack, prosecutor Adrian Redgrave claimed was a way to warn Mr Hamid into ending his relationship with the accused\u2019s sister.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>24 hours before the arson attack, Mr Hamid had received a threatening phone call, the court was told. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Alisha, the youngest of 12 children was asleep in her bunk bed when a masked man burst through the front door and poured petrol in the hallway before lighting a match, Mr Redgrave said. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The blaze quickly spread up the stairs and family members were forced to jump out of windows to escape the raging fire.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Alisha was found by firefighters but died at Birmingham\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital the next day. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Mr Redgrave also told the court two other men, Mr Ahmed&#8217;s brother, Mohammed Foaz Ahmed, and a close friend, Jabed Ali, were wanted in connection with the incident but had subsequently disappeared. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He added although there was no evidence that Mr Ahmed was at the scene of the attack, it was clear he had directed the attack. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The trial continues. <\/div>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl who was killed after an arson attack on her home was the innocent victim of an attempt to scare her brother into ending his relationship with a girl, a court has heard. &#13; Alisha Begum, (pictured right) died in March this year after her family home in Aston, Birmingham was firebombed. &#13; [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":11753,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2309","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2309","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=2309"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/2309\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/11753"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=2309"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=2309"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=2309"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
