{"id":22628,"date":"2017-06-30T13:57:24","date_gmt":"2017-06-30T12:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=22628"},"modified":"2017-06-30T13:58:44","modified_gmt":"2017-06-30T12:58:44","slug":"abcc-chairman-takes-deputy-lieutenant-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2017\/06\/30\/abcc-chairman-takes-deputy-lieutenant-role\/","title":{"rendered":"ABCC chairman takes Deputy Lieutenant role"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"page-wrapper\">\n<div id=\"page-content\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-sm-8\">\n<p>Asian Business Chamber of Commerce chairman Nasir Awan <strong>(pictured)<\/strong> has been appointed Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment was announced by Lord Lieutenant John Crabtree at a dinner at Birmingham City University.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Awan said: &#8220;I am honoured to be appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands and look forward to supporting the Her Majesty\u2019s Lord Lieutenant, in particular his task \u00a0of increasing the number of honours and Queen&#8217;s Awards for enterprise to the region, which is well behind in proportion to the industry and population of the West Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would also encourage greater involvement with the Lieutenancy of all communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Awan was president of the Institute of Asian Businesses (IAB) for three years before became the ABCC.<\/p>\n<p>He was then named as the ABCC\u2019s first honorary chairman.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Awan is managing director of Awan Marketing plc, a third generation family-owned import and distribution company based in Hockley.<\/p>\n<p>The firm was established in 1976 by Bashir Awan.<\/p>\n<p>The company which has a long association with the IAB, imports and distributes consumer goods, including toiletries, stationery, hardware and car products.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Asian Business Chamber of Commerce chairman Nasir Awan (pictured) has been appointed Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands.
