E<\/span>ast Shopping Centre decked out the festivities when the Mayor of Newham Sir Robin Wales; Lyn Brown MP and singing sensation Arjun, together switched on the Christmas
\nLights, in a special event on Tuesday November 22nd.
\nHosted by Sunrise Radio presenter, Shabnam Sahi, the event saw hundreds
\nof people celebrate as the lights were officially turned on, before heartthrob
\nArjun gave an exclusive performance singing some of his biggest hit songs and
\nserenading one lucky fan.<\/p>\n

\nSir Robin Wales, Mayor of Newham said: \u201cEast Shopping Centre continues
\nto be a bustling shopping hug in Green Street and the Christmas lights will be a
\nwelcome attraction for all visitors to the area to enjoy.\u201d\"arjun3\"<\/a>
\nLyn Brown MP for West Ham said: \u201cI was delighted to have been invited to
\nturn on East Shopping Centre\u2019s Christmas lights. The Centre is
\nlocated in a wonderfully diverse part of Newham and the turnout by the
\ncommunity was testament to the success it has achieved in the short
\ntime it has been there. Rather than waiting for Black Friday and dodgy deals, I
\nwould encourage shoppers to visit the East Shopping Centre and shop local for
\nChristmas. There are some great savings to be found on Green Street. I wish
\neveryone working and visiting Green Street over the next month a very Happy
\nChristmas and prosperous New Year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nArjun said: “Thanks to East Shopping Centre for inviting me to switch on their\"arjun2\"<\/a>
\nChristmas lights and perform – what an amazing crowd! I’ve had a great time
\nexploring East, a vibrant hub for the Asian community in the area. It was a
\npleasure to switch on the Christmas lights and meet the local fans. I hope to be
\nback again soon.”<\/p>\n

\nThe event also marked the beginning of the East Winter Sale, which is
\noffering unbeatable offers and discounts of up to 75% off in select shops and
\nthe launch of East\u2019s newest restaurant, American diner Route 58.
\nSince officially launching in March 2015, East has welcomed well over two
\nmillion visitors, contributing to the development of East London\u2019s iconic Green
\nStreet, E7 and making the mall a benchmark shopping destination for the British Asian community.<\/p>\n

\nEast has also become a prime destination for wedding shoppers, and features
\na range of outlets retailing in everything from chic couture to everyday wear at
\nhighly competitive prices. The Food Court has also become a hotspot for local
\ndiners.<\/p>\n
