The Indian couple married in 1925 during the British Raj era before moving to England 40 years later, they have eight children and 27 grandchildren. Sadly Karam died in September at age 110.<\/p>\n<p>Previously talking about their 90<sup>th<\/sup> wedding anniversary, Karam had said the secret to a lasting marriage was getting on with each other, \u201cWe just get along with each other and we are family focused, it\u2019s simple really\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Karam previously spoke about his health choices in life, \u201cEat and drink what you want but in moderation. I have never held back from enjoying my life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have always eaten good wholesome food, there&#8217;s nothing artificial in our diet but things like butter, milk and fresh yoghurt are what we like,\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that being married for so long is a blessing &#8211; but equally we will be ready to go when it\u2019s time. It\u2019s all up to the will of God, but we really have lived a good life,\u201d Karam had said.<\/p>\n<p>Karam was born to a farming family in a small Punjab village in 1905. Katari, who is 103-years-old, was born in the same district. Her husband would have celebrated his 111<sup>th<\/sup> birthday in October.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Chand&#8217;s son Paul, said, \u201cI\u2019m proud of my dad and all the family is proud. With the grace of God he went peacefully.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s one of those things nobody can stop, everybody has to go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He described his mother as a \u201cbit shocked\u201d and finding it \u201cvery difficult to cope\u201d after living with her partner for such a long period of time, but she would be alright.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karam and Katari Chand made headlines after celebrating their 90th wedding anniversary together.
