{"id":15195,"date":"2016-06-21T14:47:19","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T13:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=15195"},"modified":"2016-06-21T14:47:19","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T13:47:19","slug":"foodie-holidays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2016\/06\/21\/foodie-holidays\/","title":{"rendered":"Foodie Holidays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An important factor to consider when deciding where to go on holiday is a delicious meal.<\/p>\n<p>According to a new survey, the quality of food is a deciding factor for 32 per cent of British travellers when they choose the destination of their next holiday.<\/p>\n<p>More than 24 per cent think museums and galleries are an important consideration whilst almost twice as many as the 17 per cent take a friend\u2019s recommendation into account.<\/p>\n<p>The poll defies the image of Britons abroad sticking to home luxuries such as fish and chips.<\/p>\n<p>One in ten people say they will go on a \u2018gastro-holiday\u2019, where food is the key reason for getting away. That\u2019s a near-sixfold upsurge in three years.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Platts, of online travel firm Expedia, which commissioned the survey, said: \u201cIt\u2019s great to see Britons are becoming a nation of foodies and looking to broaden their food horizons when it comes booking their next trip.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The survey of 14,000 adults across 14 European nations similarly found that 40 per cent of Britons choose where they are going to have a meal before they even fly off.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An important factor to consider when deciding where to go on holiday is a delicious meal.
