{"id":15105,"date":"2016-06-17T12:59:24","date_gmt":"2016-06-17T11:59:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=15105"},"modified":"2016-06-17T13:02:47","modified_gmt":"2016-06-17T12:02:47","slug":"solihull-to-zimbabwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2016\/06\/17\/solihull-to-zimbabwe\/","title":{"rendered":"Solihull to Zimbabwe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A courageous student at Solihull Sixth Form College will be flying to Zimbabwe this coming summer to volunteer with the ICS (International Citizen Service).<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim Rashid is taking a gap year after finishing his A Levels and will be going to Zimbabwe for the Restless Development Programme from September for 12 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The 18-year-old Brummie will be living with other people and working with a team of volunteers on sexual and reproducive health and rights programmes throughout his stay.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim said: \u201cI\u2019m really pleased to have been accepting into this programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will be provided training before I head out with a group of volunteers and I will be helping local businesses grow, help to protect the environment, and provide health education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Restless Development Programme which targets 18-25 year olds will see Ibrahim progress in his team work and communication skills while helping a developing country.<\/p>\n<p>The government funds 90% of all Restless Development programmes \u2013 Ibrahim has to raise a minimum of \u00a3800 to cover flights, food, accommodation and any other essential equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone wishing to donate to Ibrahim\u2019s cause can visit: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/wp-admin\/www.justgiving.com\/fundraising\/Ibrahim-Rashid2\"><u>www.justgiving.com\/fundraising\/Ibrahim-Rashid2<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A courageous student at Solihull Sixth Form College will be flying to Zimbabwe this coming summer to volunteer with the ICS (International Citizen Service).
