{"id":14772,"date":"2016-06-10T13:16:48","date_gmt":"2016-06-10T12:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/?p=14772"},"modified":"2016-06-10T13:16:48","modified_gmt":"2016-06-10T12:16:48","slug":"30million-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2016\/06\/10\/30million-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a330million Bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Argos is facing a bill of \u00a330million in compensation after admitting that thousands of store card customers were overcharged.<\/p>\n<p>The company launched a thorough review into the matter, which relates to \u201cbuy now, pay later\u201d plans for some of the retailer\u2019s 1.5 million store card holders who were charged additional fees for late payments.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive, John Walden\u00a0said it affected up to 10% of Argos card customers.<\/p>\n<p>Each customer is expected to receive a compensation of up to \u00a3100 and Home Retailer will be writing to affected customers in the following weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The group said: \u201cwe found that a more extensive customer redress programme would be required than first thought when the issue was discovered earlier this year, increasing the likely cost by about\u00a0\u00a330m.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The groups financial services division had learned it \u201chad erroneously collected excess fees in relation to the late payment of amounts due from certain customers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Walden said: \u201cIt&#8217;s not a material number of customers and not a material amount of money per customer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut for each customer it matters.
