40-year-old woman left in critical condition in broad daylight knife attack<\/em><\/p>\n

A heavily pregnant woman who was stabbed in public has thanked those \u201cfearless\u201d individuals who risked their lives to ensure her safety and that of her unborn daughter.<\/p>\n

The 40-year-old was left in critical condition in Sutton Coldfield town centre in the broad daylight attack, which is believed to have been carried out by her ex-partner.\"Scene<\/a><\/p>\n

The victim, reportedly from Sutton, was understood to have been more than eight months pregnant at the time of the attack.<\/p>\n

Passersby rushed to the expectant mother\u2019s assistance, including HMP Birmingham officer Daniel Birch, 26, and Christian Blundell, 17.<\/p>\n

Two of the individuals who attempted to intervene suffered minor injuries from the attack, according to police.<\/p>\n

The new mum is said to be in a stable condition by detectives, having been flown to the hospital following the incident. Her new baby, who was delivered safely by emergency C-section, \u201ccontinues to do well\u201d according to officers.<\/p>\n

The assailant, Babur Karamat Raja was charged with two counts of attempted murder.\"Happier<\/a><\/p>\n

In a statement issued after the sentencing, the victim\u2019s family said: \u201cWe\u2019d all like to express our heartfelt thanks to everybody who helped her on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour fearlessness and selfless actions saved both their lives and we are overwhelming grateful to you all.\u201d<\/p>\n

A former neighbour said: \u201cShe must have been close to her due date, as she posted on Facebook two weeks ago that she was at Good Hope Hospital and I knew she was eight months pregnant then.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what the baby girl is called, I just know the woman and her daughter are still in hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cI bet she didn\u2019t think she would spend Mother\u2019s Day in this situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Christian Blundell, a drama student at Birmingham Ormiston Academy, explained how he and his friends hurried to the aid of the victim.<\/p>\n

They provided the victim with drinks and napkins from a nearby McDonalds.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIt\u2019s all a massive shock.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have never seen that much blood.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t know what you are thinking until it happens \u2013 your mind goes blank.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s fight or flight, you help or run away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI couldn\u2019t not help.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was in really bad pain, we couldn\u2019t just stand there.\u201d<\/p>\n
