{"id":11361,"date":"2014-05-06T13:11:51","date_gmt":"2014-05-06T13:11:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tat.reddaisytrading.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/05\/06\/2-states\/"},"modified":"2014-05-06T13:11:51","modified_gmt":"2014-05-06T13:11:51","slug":"2-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/index.php\/2014\/05\/06\/2-states\/","title":{"rendered":"2 States"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<h3>Bollywood Review in Conjunction with VUE (With Manish Gajjar)<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"1\" hspace=\"3\" vspace=\"10\" align=\"middle\" width=\"570\" height=\"225\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theasiantoday.com\/Image\/ArticleImages\/2-states-london-570x225.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>2\u00a0STATES (PG)<\/strong> <\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>Verdict: 3\/5<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>DIRECTOR: Abhishek Verman<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div><strong>STARRING: Arjun Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amrita Singh, Revathy<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Krish (Arjun) and Ananya (Alia) meet at University where romance blossoms.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Krish is a straightforward Punjabi guy whilst Ananya is a spirited Tamil character.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>They spend their two years happily living in each other\u2019s rooms and classrooms.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>On graduation Ananya gets a job in Chennai whilst Krish returns to Delhi to be with his obsessive, overbearing mother.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Unable to live apart the youngsters decide to get married.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>But when their parents meet for the first time sparks fly due to their cross-cultural differences.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Not one to give up that easily Krish and Ananya decide to overcome the hurdles to win their parents\u2019 approval.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>The beauty of this rom-com lies in director Verman\u2019s unique way of storytelling.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>He proves that a good script and direction is what is needed for a crisp and engaging narrative.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Through Verman\u2019s eyes we don\u2019t see the stars as characters.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Instead they look like people we have known all our lives dragging us into their emotions and conflicts as we become part of them.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>As young Bollywood starlet with just three releases in her career to date, Alia is delightful to watch.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>She is not scared of experimenting with different roles to show off her acting abilities as proven by her last release Highway.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>With a down-to-earth physical appearance which men can relate to at some stage of their lives, Arjun is a revelation.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0His emotional scene dealing with his father\u2019s betrayal and volatile behaviour is very moving.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>Amrita Singh is excellent as the pompous Punjabi mother.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>But Ronit surprises as the disgraced army man whose abusive nature drives his only son away from him.\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<div>On the whole 2 States is a breezy romance with Arjun and Alia\u2019s thrilling chemistry working well across the cultural divide.<\/div>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bollywood Review in Conjunction with VUE (With Manish Gajjar) &#13;
