The nomination process for the Asian Media Awards 2014 is open.<\/p>\n


\nThe Asian Media Awards was first held in 2013 and aims to reward the contribution of members of the Asian media as well as recognise the ground breaking work of reporters, writers and producers in highlighting issues affecting race relations and human rights.<\/p>\n


\nThe categories list aims to reward excellence in Journalism, Social Media, Press, Radio, TV, Marketing and Event Management.<\/p>\n


\nSpecial awards this year include the Media Personality of the Year and the Outstanding Contribution to the Media industry.<\/p>\n


\nThe Sophiya Haque Services to British Television is named after one of the UK\u2019s best loved stage and screen actresses who sadly died of Cancer in 2013.<\/p>\n


\nNew categories this year include an Outstanding Young Journalist which recognises a person who has made a breakthrough into the media with a series of reports.<\/p>\n


\nA new Best Video Channel Award celebrates the most original and creative video content on a video sharing website.<\/p>\n


\nThe event will see a finalists launch event being held in London followed by the ceremony in Manchester in October.<\/p>\n


\nPrevious recipients of an award include actor James Harkishin, veteran TV and film actress Jamila Massey, writer and comedian Adil Ray and singer Apache Indian.<\/p>\n


\nNew judging panel members have been added to this year\u2019s list and include some of the UK\u2019s most respected individuals in their field.<\/p>\n


\nUmbreen Ali, Media Manager said, \u201cIt was a privilege to host the\u00a0inaugural Asian Media Awards in 2013.<\/p>\n


\n\u201cThis year we are looking forward\u00a0to celebrating new talent and inspiring work from a range of sectors within the industry.<\/p>\n


\n\u201cThe media\u00a0continues to\u00a0embrace the changes carved by the internet. The categories list this year reflects that and\u00a0includes several new genres which aim to recognise new and aspiring talent.<\/p>\n


\n\u201cThere is a major focus on this year on promoting young talent as we launch the Outstanding Young Journalist Award.<\/p>\n


\n\u201cI am delighted that we are again partnered by some of the leading media organisations in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n


\nThe round table dinner event will be the Asian media event of the year and will take place in October.<\/p>\n
